It’s an inspiring journey to better health as you visit 100 national parks, forests, monuments, and other natural wonders in 100 days.
Choose any physical activities you like… whether you’re a thrill seeker or prefer the familiar walk around the neighborhood, Great American Fitness Adventure will help you build a fitness habit to last a lifetime.
Each day your goal is to achieve 30 minutes or more of physical activity. Get outside, breathe the fresh air, and try something new. For each day you log 30 minutes of exercise, you earn a park entrance sticker.
If you face a day when you can’t fit in 30 minutes, don’t worry — you’ll have 28 “free passes” you can choose to continue moving along the trail. Your free passes allow you to miss an average of 2 days a week of exercise and still visit all 100 locations.
Exercising at least 30 minutes a day is a good goal regardless of your fitness level. A brisk half-hour walk counts, as does a ride up a steep mountain bike trail. You don’t have to try something daring and new, but if you want to, there’s plenty to choose from. There are details on everything from archery to yoga, as well as seasonal suggestions and resources for outdoor adventures in every state.
Being part of a team (as few as 4 members, up to as many as you’d like) gives you added motivation because you’re contributing to your own success as well as your team’s. The competition is designed to reinforce a consistent, lasting exercise habit.
